About Roosevelt Elementary
Our Mission
At Roosevelt Elementary School, teachers and staff believe in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment where everyone takes responsibility for student success. They view learning as a collaborative partnership among teachers, staff, students, parents, and the broader community, and they continuously monitor progress and use research-based practices to guide and improve instruction.

School History
On June 10, 1918, the School Board approved plans to build a six- to eight-room school in the East Side Addition after a $90,000 bond passed. The name “Roosevelt School” first appeared in Board minutes on May 12, 1919, and the school began operating in 1920–1921, a year marked by several changes, including a citywide shift from Pacific to Mountain Time in December 1920. The building expanded in 1948 with a four-room addition and again in 1951 with a three-room addition to house kindergarten and first grade classrooms.
Following the March 2006 bond election, Roosevelt underwent a major renovation during the 2010–2011 school year. Students returned in fall 2011 to a fully updated facility featuring energy-efficient lighting and roofing, exterior sun shades, recycled carpeting, water-saving fixtures, a full kitchen, an added resource room, a new library, ADA-compliant upgrades including an elevator, new classroom furniture, and improved security.
